Some Helpful & Interesting Sites

GENERAL INFORMATION AND ADVICE:

Need a Vet in the area? .

The Greyhound Project - a very large and informative web site dedicated to ex-racing Greyhounds.

The Greyhound Discussion List - this email discussion group has thousands of members and is an absolute wealth of knowledge, but be warned:  There are sometimes hundreds of postings a day that come in digest form, and things can get very heated.  Adoption groups, racing enthusiasts/owners, breeders, animal-rights types, Veterinarians, you name it - when the talk turns to racing, they all state their feelings without apology and it can get nasty.  It is, however, a great place for the new adopter to get information and advice about behavior, nutrition, etc.

Greytalk is a much friendlier place to get advice and share experiences with other Greyhound folk. A little discussion board that grew into a big one but still keeps that feeling of a supportive community.

COLLARS:

Karen's Kollars - an Issaquah-based company that's renowned across the nation for quality collars in various materials and trims. No one else makes collars like these.

Mrs. Bones Collars - Beautiful sighthound collars, lots of variety, even velvet leashes!

Kerry Kollars - Custom handmade sighthound martingale collars.

Nancy B's Collars - Lined and unlined martingale collars in various widths and fabrics. Click on the picture for price and ordering info.

Around The Hounds - Unique designer collars and accessories from Canada!

2 Hounds Design - I was just checking out this site to add to our links page and ended up buying 5 things! You have been warned. Silk embroidered collars, necklaces for dogs, pendants and more.

Classic Hound offers exclusive handmade greyhound collars, including safety reflective collars and leashes, plus accessories including safety blinkers and more. We're going to be expanding in the near future as "ClassicHound" to offer even more for greyhounds, such as designer coats and beds.

Coats and Pajamas:

Foggy Mountain Dog Coats are the Rolls Royce of Greyhound apparel. Thick, well-made, tailored and pleasing to the eye. Made for all breeds, but featuring special versions for Greyhounds and Whippets. For a list of vendors, please click here.

Duds For Buds - A fabulous selection of coats (even faux fur!), beds, toys, formal wear and a whole lot more. Our pups especially enjoy the warm and comfortable pajamas for those chilly winter nights.

K-9 Designs by Sharee is one of the most comprehensive Greyhound accessory sites we've found. Coats, collars, toys, beds and even racing silks for your hound, and many items for people as well. This is a local vendor, located South of Seattle.

A Grace of Hounds - Beautiful and unique quilted Greyhound coats with a Celtic flair!

Hound Togs - a selection of coats just for sighthounds. Custom fitting.

Toastie Coats and Paws - various coats, and even pajamas for those cold winter nights.

Houndcoats - Home of the "Houndhugger no-frills dog coats". Sure to be a hit even with the pickiest of hounds. They make great nightwear, too!

Val's Pajamas, because no Greyhound should ever be cold.

No Nude Hounds - The name says it all. Help stamp out Greyhound nudity!

Jan's Greyhound and Lurcher Gifts - Get your hound a coat from merry old England! Incredibly low prices; shipping to the U.S. will be more but still a great deal.

SWEATERS:

A & B Originals has wonderful hand-crocheted sweaters for hounds. No two are exactly alike!

A Blanket of Hope offers only one style of sweater in two color choices, but the sweaters are super-cute!

RACING RECORDS, PEDIGREES:

The National Greyhound Association is the governing body of Greyhound Racing in the United States.  The also sell various Greyhound accessories (muzzles, squawkers, blankets, etc.) geared toward the racing kennel. This site instructs you on how to obtain the official racing history of your dog by mailing in the ear tattoo numbers. For a price, you can even receive a certificate naming you as the registered owner of your dog.

Rosnet Greyhound Racing - This is a pay site for Greyhound Racing Records. We have a membership and will be glad to research your pup - just send an email.

Greyhound-Data is a free site for pedigree and littermate names. Enter your dog's full racing name or tattoos and find out their birthday, parents, littermates and even their racing history charts, complete with commentary such as "Bumped, inside", "Led all the way" or the dreaded "No factor". If your pup isn't listed or if you know something about your Greyhound that's not shown on the site, you can add the information yourself! Add your pictures, too!

COURSING:

Northwest Sporting Greyhound Association shows information about racing your hound in competition or where to join a novice “fun run”.  Attending events is always entertaining, and it’s so interesting to see all the other sighthounds, but mostly it’s fun to see how your Greyhound reacts to the lure!

The American Sighthound Field Association is another lure coursing organization.

ANIMAL COMMUNICATOR:

Renowned communicator Anita Curtis at does telephone readings for a reasonable fee, and I know several people from our discussion board have consulted her and been astounded. It doesn’t matter where the animal is located, or even if the animal is no longer living.  Do we believe in this stuff? Well...  We know many people who’ve had amazing experiences with animal psychics (this one and others), but we’ll leave that up to you.

IN THEIR OWN CATEGORY:

Greyhound Pals are just too cute not to be included here. You can choose the color, gender and name of your new pal - here's one way to finally have that blue Greyhound you've always dreamed of!

Burpdog Biscuits - Handmade, all natural dog treats and cakes, in flavors such as Pumpkin Honey Nut and Spinach Soufflé. Your pup will love them! Doggy crack!!
